HelleborusAbout the Post Office Farm Nursery

Post Office Farm Nursery is located in the Macedon Ranges north west of Melbourne. We specialise in the genus Helleborus having collected and grown them in gradually increasing numbers over the past 10 years. The nursery was established at the beginning of 2002 and plant sales began that same year.

Our main interest is in breeding superior forms of Helleborus x hybridus as well as growing a comprehensive range of the less commonly available Helleborus species and hybrids. We have grown thousands of Helleborus x hybridus from the best imported seed from the UK, Germany and the US. From these we have selected the very best as stock plants to use in our breeding program.

In recent years there has been a surge of interest in Hellebores. For the keen gardener there is much to admire about them. They flower in winter when colour is most valuable, boast a wonderful variety of flower colours and forms and are not difficult to grow. The foliage of many Hellebores can provide a valuable structural element in the winter garden.

We devote all available nursery space to propagating and growing plants. As a result we do not have retail facilities and the nursery is not open to the public.

We sell Hellebores by Mail Order from late autumn through winter or until sold out.

In addition we hold two Hellebore Sale Days each year. These are held in July at Macedon and in August at Ferny Creek.

We also attend a number of specialist plant fairs.
