Description

This species is summer deciduous, with foliage emerging in Autumn continuing through Winter and Spring. Helleborus atrorubens is one of the more colourful of the wild species generally ranging through shades of purple to burgundy on green. Native to mountainous areas of the Balkan countries. Usually a simple open cup flower form however sometimes occurring “doubled”.
